The narrative behind Malte goes back to 2005 when the Danish city museums in Helsingør and Helsingborg arranged a museum hike for children. It was a fun way to educate children about the cities history. As part of this two books were released: “Museumsmusen Malte - En byvandring for børn til Helsingør Bymuseum (2005) and “Malte i Helsingborg - En stadsvandring för barn” (2007). From the books the Malte figure was born. He also became a internet sensation and it was possible to follow his city adventures online. The role of Malte was embodied by this specific rat from Maileg (released year 2008). Needless to say the rat was a popular purchase in the museum’s souvenir shops.
